Jordan :

Last Friday, the Jabal Amman Residents Association, known as (JARA) launched its summer market (Souk JARA).

Souk JARA

USAID as well as Jordan Tourism Development Project have supported the JARA Market with more financial support than last year in order to promote the market and increase the number of participants, and consequently the number of market visitors.

The increased funding was successful in encouraging more vendors to participate, as a number of 135 traders will be involved in the market this year, to make an increase of 30% in comparison to last year.

JARA market usually presents antiques, homemade items, handicrafts and much more, making it a target for tourists who are into learning more about the Jordanian culture.

I won’t be writing much here, but I will be presenting some pictures of the market, as I was there this afternoon, and enjoyed browsing through the market so much that I couldn’t leave with no pictures...

So, I will now leave you with the pictures.

This man was kind enough to let me take a picture of him along with the table he is presenting (different accessories).

Absolutely beautiful wood work (which I am fond of).

The night is usually sealed with a band playing or other kinds of performances, but it is too bad I couldn’t take pictures of that, as I was there during the afternoon, and couldn’t wait till the end of the day.

So, I know the pictures are not of the best quality ever, but considering the small space I had to stand in and take the pictures from, they are not that bad.

to be honest I don’t know much about the door, as it was standing alone at the entrance of the market, but no vendors were standing around to be asked about it... however, from what I saw, I would say it is an antique, I don’t think it is put up for sale, probably just to be shown...
hmmm..ok I think u need to come and I’ll show u around :P

hey David... Souk means Market... and JARA stands for: Jabal Amman (which is an area in western Amman) Residents Association...

so all in all: JARA market, or Jabal Amman Residents Association market :)

I can't compare, which one is better. The sand work or the wood work. Amazing craft work. Beautiful!

Oh yes, they’re both very beautiful... and as beautiful the sand art may look, it usually doesn’t cost much around here... but I’d personally go for the wood work, it never seizes to amaze me :)
