Terrorists or Freedom Fighters; Who Decides?

# Have you ever been involved in, supported, or encouraged terrorist activities in any country? Have you, ever been a member of, or given support to an organisation that has been concerned in terrorism?

# Have you ever, by any means or medium, expressed views that justify or glorify terrorist violence or that may encourage others to terrorist acts or other serious criminal acts?

Do these questions sound familiar? Well, they would sound very familiar, if, and only if, you have applied for a visa to the United Kingdom. Well, guess what! I HAVE. And I had to deal with these questions, along with other questions that I found even more annoying. But those other question wont be the subject of my article for today.

What I was wondering about at the time I was filling my application was: let’s say someone was filling the application, and happened to be engaged in a “terrorist” organization, would they actually check the “Yes” Box?

I very much doubt that…

Anyways, I now wonder about something else as I write this article.

Who on Earth decides what a terrorist activity/organization is?

Hizbullah was labeled as a terrorist organization by the United States of America. Does that mean it is a terrorist organization? HELL NO!!!

It was labeled as a terrorist organization based on the sole fact that it did anything and everything to kick Israel out of it’s land, which proved to be a very successful mission (regardless of the fact that some still claim that Israel left Lebanon out of the kindness of its heart…. Euh… Yeah Right). Wouldn’t any country do the same if it was under occupation? HELL YES!!!

So why would Hizbullah be considered a terrorist organization when they acted like any other organization consisting of freedom fighters who refuse to be intimidated by arrogant governments with big guns?

Well, I checked the NO boxes for both questions, to be hit by a third question that says:

# Have you engaged in any other activities that might indicate that you may not be considered a person of good character?

Hmmm...Haven’t we all? I guess idealistic people would say yes to such a question… but guess what! I need to go to the UK for a research day, so I put aside my idealism, blocked all the stuff I did during my life, which in my perception, I consider myself to be bad for carrying out, and checked the “NO” box….

Two days later, I got my Visa.
God Bless All Freedom Fighters.

Pretty bad experience. BUt think what other options are most countries left with? The simple thing is that European countries do not have a problem with Muslim immigrants as such, but they want those with liberal outlook in life. The focus should be on that in my view. These questions are absurd! A terrorist doesn’t know he is a terrorist, he thinks of himself as a soldier of God, and one on the path to heaven!!

BY the way, terrorism to me creating problems for others for some imperialist ambitions. Freedom fighters are those who are already occupied by some external force (like Brits imperialism at many places). These days Lebanese are fighting against Hezbollah, tribals in Afghan - Pak are fighting Talibanis, Indians are fighting Pakistani jehadis, they to me are freedom fighters. For that matter, even Afghan - Pak tribals are fighting against NATO forces, Iraqis fighting against Americans are kinda freedom fighters. Those into Shia - Sunni clashes of Iraq are terrorists.

hey hey, long time no see :)
exactly my point OHP, by the end of the day, it’s a matter of perception, America considered Hizbullah as terrorists at the same time they were fighting against Israel which occupied south of Lebanon, to me, those are definitely freedom fighters. so who decides?!!! It is not supposed to be a matter of question in this world, but unfortunately thosein charge of giving those labels do not have enough credit to go about such a mission...

Welcome back :)

Not the little one...rather the grand one....so much of fire and this is what is a belief and hat is Truth...

My God.....i need to see beyond those eyes...eyes that are cool...confident....burning...yet mystical...what a combination...

the same god made us....and then left to us to decide...what is wrong...

And what is right....

You Glow....yet you suffer fools....i am not that strong...

Humanity is God yet so artificial...i hate sufferance...are we not unique...

All gods are one...why then are we humans...when we cannot make nonsense of sense...

Go with your anger...and with your presence...as well as sense...you are gifted....a fighter....

Take care and god bless...be well....

woow hari, there’s a lot we could talk about, i see things in a way that makes it much easier... There is only one God, we as humans do know right from wrong, it is just that the truth got twisted when humans tried to engineer our lives in a certain way so as to serve their own interests... there are lots of other things that we could discuss in this area, but they cannot be put in a comment, it’s just way too much for a comment :) and, maybe we could do that when I’m back to Jordan :)
