A bomb was set off last Monday, and was responsible for the death of four people in southern Lebanon, as well as Kamal Medhat, the deputy head of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation in Lebanon, and a member of the Palestinian Fateh party.

Medhat was on a visit with other companions, to one of the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon when the bomb exploded.
Officials from both Fateh and Hamas parties condemned the attack, while the ones responsible for the attack remain unknown.
Medhat played a big role in the Palestinian politics in Lebanon – a country hosting a big number of around 250.000 Palestinian refugees-.
According to Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official, Medhat played a “great role” in reconciling Palestinian groups in Lebanon, making it a good reason for Israel to have him taken out of the game. At the same time, other Palestinian officials as well as Lebanese security sources reported that Medhat was taking part in a power struggle within Fateh movement.
