I was looking through my list of URLs today, many of which I haven’t visited in a long time, and I found the address to my first blog ever. I opened it and read some of my posts over there.
Looking through my posts, I found something that made me smile, especially when I remembered why I wrote it in the first place. I wrote it when I was going through some profiles of people registered to that blog, and was trying to do that “aftershock kind of funny” thing... Here’s what I wrote:
I always wonder about the image some people like to reflect about themselves. I was going through some blogs over here and I was surprised with the number of people who filled their profiles with “aggressive” kind of information about themselves or comments and warnings to others. Now these people could be of different types, all of which will follow:
A) The “Bad boy” wanna be who usually posts stuff like: I’m a kick-boxer and I can track you down and kick your A*s if you leave comments that I find rude. If you want to be added to my friends’ list, leave a comment over here and I’ll see if you’re good enough for MY friends’ list.
B) The “Mysterious boy” that no one understands, and no one will ever manage to understand, yet is usually more than happy to give explanations and details about his mysterious personality than any person (who is considered an open book) will ever manage to give about him/herself
C) The “I’m a free open-minded careless person” who implies that he can do anything he wants with anyone he wants. Those people’s blogs usually discuss their messed up love experiences, and go into details that no one would probably like to hear about.
I know a blog is created so that you can express whatever you have inside, but dude, why sound aggressive or try to sound like a character from an American movie that targets teenagers. Trust me, it is not cool as you may think it is. Not cool at all. It is O.K. to be nice and if “nice” makes you feel vulnerable, then you can just act normal, not nice, nor aggressive, just normal. Is that too much to ask for?
Reading this now, I am fully aware that by the end of the day, it is called a personal blog because people are free to write whatever they want to write, and they can introduce themselves to the world as they wish, and I totally understand that. But when you’re writing something and putting it where people can see it, try not to scare these people off, but again, that’s just my humble advice for a healthy online life...
I find humor in people’s negativity. How creative is that.
