News headlines reported a new law in Iraq banning all organised visits to the grave of the former Iraqi president, Saddam Hussain. The new set ban was released after a videotape captured schoolgirls singing Saddam’s praises at his grave.
This comes as another childish reaction from the Iraqi government towards the former Iraqi government, which attempts to silence people’s voices of respect to someone who lead their country for a very long time, regardless of the controversial opinions of how he lead the country all that time.
I am not saying that I like Saddam, I am not saying that I don’t like Saddam... and this is EXACTLY my point... It is not about me, and what I think. It is not about the new Iraqi government and what it thinks. Visiting a grave or not visiting it is a free choice that people should be able to make regardless of what everyone thinks of the owner of that grave. If I want to go and pray or sing for someone at their grave, then I should be able to do so. This is democracy. And if after this war which the Iraqis had to experience, they still cannot be granted such small but basic freedoms, then I am not sure why the war was started in the first place.
Stop insulting people’s liberties. Stop ridiculing people’s free will. Stop preaching and start acting the words you preach.

The war against Iraq was never aimed for establishing democracy there. It was just to have a pro America government there. They have nothing to do with the personal freedom of the people.
You are right that praying and singing at the grave of Saddam will not bring him back but his thoughts and ideas will remain alive in the minds of Iraqi people. The real tribute to Saddam will be to establish a government representing his thoughts.
